JOINT UCA-IFPRI REGIONAL WORKSHOP ON CLIMATE CHANGE, AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SECURITY IN CENTRAL ASIA

The University of Central Asia (UCA) in collaboration with International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) will host a regional workshop in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan from Nov 18-19, 2015. The main objective of the regional workshop is to bring together the four country teams from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan working on climate change, agriculture and food security in Central Asia to provide preliminary results and findings for each country using the Global IMPACT model.  The workshop will allow for exchanges between the country teams as well as expert modelers to ensure proper model linkages and analysis of alternative long-term scenarios of changes in climate, technology, water and other major drivers of agriculture and food security at the regional and national level.  The regional workshop is a part of a joint research project between the IFPRI and UCA on “Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security in Central Asia” and will include participants from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
