WESTMINSTER DEVELOPMENT POLICY NETWORK VIRTUAL SEMINARS

An open online policy research seminar series for all interested in the issues of development policy. The list of speakers include prominent scholars including Prof. Jeffrey Sachs of Columbia University (world-renowned economics professor, New York Times bestselling author, and global leader in sustainable development), Prof. Sergei Guriev of Sciences Po (former Chief Economist of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, former Rector of the New Economic School), Dr. Danielle Resnick, Senior Research Fellow, and Theme Leader, Governance at IFPRI, Prof. Xiaobo Zhang of Peking University and IFPRI (Chief editor of China Economic Review), Prof. Alemayehu Seyoum Taffesse of IFPRI (former President of the Ethiopian Economics Association), Prof. Karen Jackson (Assistant Head of the School of Organisations, Economy and Society) and  Dr. Serena Masino (Lecturer in Economics and International Development) at the University of Westminster, UK, and Dr. Anna Kochanova, Lecturer in Economics at Cardiff University, UK.

The seminar series is jointly organized by Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT), International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and Westminster Development Policy Network (WDPN).

The webinars will be run in English via Zoom and include presentations on theoretical and empirical approaches. All webinars begin at 17:00 (Tashkent time; GMT +5) every Wednesday. Each webinar lasts for up to 60 minutes, starting with the speaker's presentation of 30 minutes, followed by the next 15-30 minutes of questions from the audience. The questions should be submitted to the moderator online via chat, who will address the questions to the presenter. The webinars will be moderated by Bakhrom Mirkasimov (WIUT) and Kamiljon Akramov (IFPRI).
