Despite rapid economic growth over the past decade, Asia is still home to two thirds of the poor in the world (living below $1.25 a day). Improvement in nutrition also lags behind income growth as the prevalence of undernourished people, especially children, remains unacceptably high in the region after decades of sustained growth. How to generate inclusive economic growth while ensuring nutrition friendly outcomes is still a challenge of the international development community and the governments in developing Asia. There is an urgent need to establish a regional network to share knowledge, tools and lessons informing the design and implementation of food and nutrition security strategies in Asia.
The new ReSAKSS-Asia initiative aims at promoting knowledge exchange in food and nutrition security strategies in the Asia region. We will draw lessons and identify best practice from a variety of food security and nutrition research, analysis and information for improved decision-making and response through mutual learning in the regional context. We will discuss the policy and investment options to ensure the agricultural transformation process is nutrition friendly.
We invite you:
- to explore the publications and data produced by our researchers at International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) as well as our stakeholders and partners;
- to check out the ReSAKSS-Asia Blog, an informal and efficient platform to share knowledge, research, development ideas of food security and nutrition issues in Asia among development practitioners and researchers;
- to subscribe to our newsletter to stay tuned for the latest ReSAKSS-Asia news.
We hope that this website will not only generate discussion, but also spur action that leads to inclusive growth, poverty reduction and improved nutritional outcomes.
We look forward to your feedback and contributions.
