International Seminar on Sustainable Food Systems in Southeast Asia under and beyond COVID-19: Policy Evidence and Call for Action

INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ON SUSTAINABLE FOOD SYSTEMS IN SOUTHEAST ASIA UNDER AND BEYOND COVID-19: POLICY EVIDENCE AND CALL FOR ACTION

by Adam Kennedy | March 24, 2022

The recent UN Food Systems Summit proposed a new understanding of food systems focused on promoting sustainable development goals and their interactions with health, energy, and ecology. Asia’s agri-food systems are undergoing rapid change, especially during the recent COVID-19 pandemic, and addressing the challenge of sustainability while ensuring equitable distribution of food and optimal nutrition will require integrated strategies to influence all parts of the agri-food system. The Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at Kasetsart University, the Mekong Institute, the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Food Security Policy Research, Capacity, and Influence, the Regional Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support System (ReSAKSS-Asia), and Agricultural Economics Society of Thailand under Royal Patronage are organizing a virtual conference focused on policies to promote transformation of food systems in Southeast Asia. The virtual conference will share evidenced-based research and provide policy recommendations to support continued transformation in the agri-food system as the region enters a post-COVID-19 world. The conference will be held at online on May 19 - 20, 2022. The event will be live streamed to enhance participation throughout the region and abroad.
